Stairlifts

Stairlifts provide access to different levels of your home when climbing or descending steps becomes difficult. Our stairlifts attach to the treads of the steps in your home. The stairlift operates with the push of a single button, either up or down the staircase. They also work during power outages utilizing rechargeable batteries. Stairlifts conveniently fold up when not in use, minimizing the amount of space taken up on your staircase. Wireless remotes are included with each stairlift so that the lift can be called or sent from either end of the staircase as needed. Stairlifts are available for installation in your home either new or used depending on availability.

Vertical Platform Lifts

Vertical platform lifts provide elevation from one level to another. VPL’s are typically used to elevate users from ground level up to a front porch, deck or to a garage door entrance. In some instances, VPL’s may also be used as an interior elevating device as well. The lift operates with the push of a single button, to the upper or lower level. Options are available for wireless remote operation, and for battery back-up in the event of a power outage.

Lift Chair Recliners

Lift chairs look like a standard power recliner but they have the added advantage of lifting you up to a standing position with the push of a button. Lift chairs can also feature massage and heat functions.

Dumbwaiters

A dumbwaiter provides convenient load carrying functionality in your home. Dumbwaiters are typically installed in areas where cargo needs to be transported between levels of the home.

Ramps

  • Portable ramps – Portable ramps are easily installed at entrance areas to homes, typically for elevations of up to 8 inches.
  • Wood ramps – Custom wood ramps are designed and constructed on site to meet the particular layout of the client’s home. It is recommended to have one foot of ramp for each inch of elevation required.
  • Modular ramps – Modular ramps are available using standard components and the ramp layout is custom designed for each home entrance. Modular ramps can be installed quickly and have the advantage of being easily removed or reconfigured as needed.

Grab Bars

Grab bars come in many different lengths and styles and provide a solid gripping surface for navigating tub/shower areas while bathing. It is recommended to install two grab bars in the shower or tub area, one for stepping in, and one on the back wall to use while inside the tub/shower.

Handrails and Guards

Handrails provide stability and assistance for travelling up and down steps, either inside or outside the home. Handrails can be installed on both sides of the steps for more versatility in using the railings. Handrails can also be installed on level areas inside or outside the home to provide a gripping surface along commonly used areas of travel. Guards are similar to handrails but are used on level areas where there is an open area to a lower level which presents a risk of falling. Guards can be installed both inside and outside the home.

Steps

Steps may present a mobility problem if the step rise is too high, or if the tread depth of the step is too narrow to fit the foot properly. Steps also may have been constructed with uneven rise heights which cause a tripping hazard. Steps can be removed and reconstructed to provide the optimal rise height and tread depth.

Kitchen Accessibility

Kitchen accessibility issues can be improved upon with minor revisions to the space. In particular, lower and upper cabinets require bending or reaching to access items which can be difficult. Drawers are generally more functional in lower cabinets since the drawer can be slid out. Drawers can be retrofitted into the lower cabinets to increase the ease of access to items. For upper cabinets, pull down shelving units can be installed which allow the items stored to rotate out and down, presenting items at a much more accessible level. Several other kitchen areas can also be modified with custom kitchen renovation solutions to address the particular needs of the client.

Bathroom Accessibility

Along with adding grab bars, removing an existing tub and replacing it with a low-profile step in shower provides greatly improved accessibility. As an alternative to a full tub removal, the tub can also be retrofitted to cut out a step-in area to allow for easier access while stepping in. Additionally, toilets with a higher seat height, or with a toilet booster device can be installed which improve the ease of sitting/standing.

Snow and Ice Melting Systems

Slip and fall hazards are greatly increased in the winter months with snow and ice build-up on walkways. Electric snow and ice melting mats can be installed on walkways and steps to allow for safer access.
